Join curator Shama Khanna for a screening of artists’ moving image and video from the internet and a discussion about how desires are met – and equally how they manifest – within an integrated digital media context.

On a mass scale, over the past 10 years social media has emerged as a conduit through which political protest and debate is mobilised, recapturing a sense of general political impetus. What artistic and curatorial responses are there to these moments of groundswell – where diverse publics are activated by screen-based images and exchange? What effect do these periods of intense social engagement have on contemporary art practice and its audiences?

This event aims to open up a debate around political imagery and image-making – how we use screen media to express our desires and to what, if any, outcome.

Shama Khanna is the creator of Flatness, a research project engaging in ideas around the screen based image and immaterial culture after the internet.
